Carlton Hunt (Drums)

Andy   Carlton  Enda  Kian   Paddy  Ronan

Carlton was born in the winter of 1863, which, those of you with long memories will remember for The proclamation of the act of emancipation, the battle of Gettysburg and the opening of the first underground section of the Metropolitan line. Originally from Leamington spa via Lewisham and West Norwood.

Carlton’s first gig for money was in 1976 playing Thin Lizzy/Santana and Status Quo covers to the assembled hairy bikers of South Warwickshire. Having secured the princely sum of £20 for his first professional engagement he’s never looked back although the gigs are better now the money hasn’t changed that much!

After folk bands, punk bands, ska bands, college bands, pub bands, function bands, metal, indie Irish, Lithuanian and every conceivable genre of music Carlton eventually became the drummer in Buster Bloodvessel‘s Bad Manners and held the drum stool with the crazy ska troubadours from 1996 to 2003. Bad Manners continue on as one of the most infamous bands on the planet and Carlton still occasionally gets the call for the odd gig with Buster.

Carlton also replaces the legendary British drummer Dave Mattacks in the folk rock super group The Feast Of Fiddles when the now Boston MA based sticksman can’t traverse the pond. The ‘feast’ line up features members of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and the Battlefield Band.

Since mistakenly going into the Shawl pub in South Harrow looking for a cab and being kidnapped by a group of desperate Irishmen in January 2004 and for nearly 2000 gigs Carlton has been the drummer and 8th choice bass player for the Biblecode Sundays.

His main drumming influences are Ringo Starr and Brian Downey and his favourite and most inspirational pieces of music are Vaughn Williams 5 variants of Dives and Lazarus, Elgar- Variations Nimrod, Holst -Planets Suite, The boys are back in Town- Thin Lizzy, Sleep walk -Santo and Johnny, Right sad Fred – Bernard Cribbins, What a mouth (what a North and South) – Tommy Steele, Overkill – Motorhead, Blitzkrieg Bop- Ramones, Denis Denis- Blondie, In a Big Country- Big Country, I want to hold your Hand- The Beatles, Big Yellow Taxi- Joni Mitchell, Frozen man- James Taylor, Rockin’ all over the world – Status Quo.

Carlton is currently using Yamaha drums with custom sparkle finish by Gary Noonan, Worldmax and Noonan snares, Zildjian cymbals and Protection Racket cases.

Carlton currently resides with Lady Catherine Greenway in Uxbridge, Middlesex, UK
